ライオンキングと日本の伝統
アクアプランネットの福政社長にご招待いただき、劇団四季による「ライオンキング」を見てきました。
舞台には疎い方なのでどのような雰囲気のものか楽しみにしていた。 実際は期待以上のものだった。
アフリカが題材のミュージカルなので当然鮮やかな色彩がものであったが、それ以上に感じたのは濃厚に内包された日本的思考の舞台構成であった。 特に下記三点が印象に残った。
1.臨場感
舞台上のみならず、客席でも演者が、小物が舞う。歌舞伎の花道の延長のようなものだが、こちらは客席間の通路全て、観客と同じ高さで繰り広げられる。 ジャングルの中で動物たちに囲まれている臨場感。
2．抽象性
動物の形態、舞台美術、全てが研ぎ澄まされて抽象化されていた。 ライオンに擬態していないのにそれとわかるライオン。 いくつかの太いチューブが集まっているだけなのに見えてくる象。 それらは抽象化されているのにもかかわらず、装飾的である。 また舞台の奥行きは小物と演者の配置だけで変化していく。それは50㌔から1mくらいまで刻々と変化していた。
3．主体の入れ替わり
演者の衣装は気ぐるみと操り人情の間の状態で、どちらにも属するもの。 ある時は演者と衣装が一つのものとなるし、またある時は演者と衣装は独立して存在する。 演じる主体が人→人形→人形＋人と変化していくのだ。 しかし、それはあまりにも滑らかに行われるがゆえに、意識しないとこの変化に気づけないほどだ。
「ライオンキング」の初演は1997年ニューヨークで行われたミュージカル。 上記のようは構成になっているのは当時の演出家が日本人か、「ライオンキング」自体が手塚治虫氏の「ジャングル大帝レオ」のリメイクだから日本が意識されているのかと思った。
調べて見ると、当時の演出家はアメリカ人だが、アフリカン・アートに加えて日本の伝統芸能である影絵や文楽との融合を目指したという。
日本の伝統や文化が懐古的にではなく、革新的な創造につながっている良い例だと思う。 自分もこれに寄与したいところである。

I'm delighted that I've observed this weblog. Lastly something not a junk, which we undergo extremely frequently. The website is lovingly serviced and saved as much as date. So it should be, thanks for sharing this with us.

certainly like your web site but you have to check the spelling on several of your posts.A number of them are rife with spelling issues and I find it very bothersome to tell the truth nevertheless I’ll definitely come back again
