菅原大輔が前田茂樹氏と共に欧州の建築展覧会 ARCHILAB 2006に参加いたします。
模型や図面の展示ではなく、「庭園」という空間そのものを展示する貴重な機会をいただきました。
10月20日16時、フランス・オルレアンのARCHILABにおいてオープニングイベントが行われます。
ARCHILABはオルレアン市主導で行われる、フランス内外の建築家を紹介するイベントです。
すべてのコレクションは買い上げられており、現ポンピドー・センターの建築・デザインのチーフキュレータ フレデリク・ミゲルーが文化省の参事官だったときにその収集が始められました。
第7回目のARCHILAB 2006は世界でも注目を集める日本人建築家の特集です。

「フランス的」と「日本的」
フランス、オルレアン市で開催される代表的な建築の展覧会「ArchiLab 2006 Japon」のための作庭計画。ArchiLab敷地内にある南北二つに分けられた植込みとその周囲が本計画地である。与条件より白紙から構築するフランス庭園のような作り方も考えられたが、既存を発見し、ズラし、拡張していくような日本庭園の作り方を目指した。
「観賞」と「体感」
既存の南北の植込みは基壇として用意され、そこに植えられた花や樹木は個々のオブジェのように鑑賞の対象として置かれている。 計画地の地面、壁面にそれぞれ白砂、植栽を配すことで場を包み込む面群を一体化し空間化した。これによって観賞の対象としての植込みから、体感される空間＝庭園の構築を目指した。
「運動」と「状態」
庭園に起伏をもった市松模様の鏡面群を新たに挿入する。鏡面群は白砂の上で水面のように空や植物を写しだす。遠景では日本庭園の岩のように固体として存在するが、体感者の運動によって地面を覆うように面になり、さらに写像をもって画素のように粒子化する。
